I work thematically when creating a body of art because it allows me to explore an idea in depth,
from multiple angles, through varied materials, and across diverse visual languages. Research becomes
part of the creative act, guiding how the mediums, images, and forms come together.
I find this approach allows me to uncover new perspectives while keeping the essence of the
theme as a connective thread throughout the work.
Legendary Life
By weaving together the real and the mythical, the Legendary Life collection explores the threshold between fact and fable. Through vibrant imagery and layered symbolism, it is an ongoing dialogue between the past and present, and how culture influences our understanding of ‘greatness’.
The Journey
This ongoing collection is a journey in mixed media and of travel without leaving the studio; where imagination, current global events, and real world destinations intertwine. Critical, appreciative reflection and moments of discovery shape the work as I travel inward and outward.
The Heart of the Matter
A collection examining the things we hold in our hearts, both positive and negative. The impact, impressions and cultural references on the heart. Questions exploring ‘What matters to the heart’ and ‘What is, at the heart of what matters’.
Uprising
A celebration of the female in all her forms—matriarch, muse, hero, and icon. It honors our enduring spirit, wisdom, energy, and resilience across history, highlighting both our triumphs and suppression. The collection explores the duality of the female experience: powerful and exalted yet vulnerable and marginalized.
Below the Surface: The Other Metropolis
Exploring what lies beneath the surface—our motivations, behaviours, and beliefs through the pairing of human traits with sea creatures and subterranean life. Through detailed studies, reflective surfaces, and vibrant textures, I invite others to see themselves in these forms to reconsider and celebrate our connection to all of nature.
Earth Works
Celebrating and exploring the extraordinary beauty and mystery of landscapes, rare plants, and hidden minerals and the metaphysical qualities they hold. I also reflect on humanity’s interaction and impact on earth.
Installation Art
The challenge of designing and building with purpose, space, beauty, and audience interaction is at the heart of these creations. Curating materials and finding new ways to utilize and present them is an exciting part of the process.
Illustration
There’s a thrill in taking a vague concept—someone’s story, a book scene, a brand identity, and blending creativity, storytelling, and problem-solving to invent characters, worlds, and moods. Working with authors and designers lets me merge with other talents from around the globe.
Commercial Illustration
Working with art directors, designers, and marketing teams, learning to translate concepts into images that connect with large audiences is an exciting process. Seeing it come to life is truly rewarding.
