About The Artist

Hi!

~Let me introduce myself ~

I was born and raised in Toronto (Canada), and my roots are of Italian heritage. I’m a painter,  published illustrator, gallery artist, and arts educator. For many years, I developed enriched curricula for youth across the GTA. I have enjoyed curating interdisciplinary festivals and designing regional and national projects that served to foster community, raise social awareness, and empower leadership through the arts.

Recently, I decided to make a career shift. After having taught for 30 (very rewarding) years, as the Visual Arts Program Coordinator at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts, I decided to devote my attention full time to my art practice. Relationships between the tumultuous human journey, cultural relativism, and the environment are the key inspirations for my art. I have been fortunate to travel and experience so many diverse cultures that have enriched my affinity for immersing myself in research and developing various bodies of work. My artistic goal is to translate content into figurative symbolism, with richly narrative compositions and elements of theatrical drama. Illusory effects are characteristic of my art; created through a delicate encaustic or laying approach with mixed media, pearlescent, reflective pigments, and metals in juxtaposed combinations.

Art offers me a new adventure through every creative process. What a privilege it is to create!
